Accused Biting Cop Takes Bite Out of Job

A Meriden police instructor has taken a bite out of his own career.

Francis Woodruff, 51, has resigned after he was accused of biting a co-worker, the Hartford Courant reports.

Woodruff is accused of taking Rochelle Wyler literally when she told him sarcastically to "bite me."  The two work together at the Connecticut Police Academy, he as an instructor.

State police said Woodruff told them he was horsing around and only pretended to bite Wyler. Court documents show that Woodruff chomped on the woman's arm, leaving teeth marks and bruising.

Woodruff has left his job as training coordinator at the Meriden Police Department, the Courant reports.

Woodruff faces disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment charges.
