Case Continued in Wesleyan Killing Case

Stephen Morgan is accused of killing Johanna Justin-Jinich.

A Connecticut judge was expected to hear an update on Tuesday on the psychiatric evaluation of a man charged with killing a Wesleyan University student at a bookstore near the campus in 2009, but the court is still waiting and the case has been continued to Aug. 23.

Stephen P. Morgan, 31, of Marblehead, Massachusetts, has pleaded not guilty to murder in the shooting death of Johanna Justin-Jinich, 21, of Timnath, Coloroado.

His lawyers are expected to mount an insanity defense.

The case against Morgan stalled because of delayed psychiatric testing. An expert hired by the state to evaluate Morgan became ill and couldn't finish the report, forcing State's Attorney Timothy Liston to hire another psychiatrist earlier this year.

Liston said the case can't move forward until the mental health evaluation is finished.
