Expensive iMacs Disappear from Hartford High School

Security cameras at Weaver High School captured images of two suspects breaking into the school over the weekend and coming out with 25 expensive computers, according to Hartford police.

It's a burglary that has the Hartford community stunned.

"That's really, really bad," Camille Hall, of Hartford, said. "You would never think that people would actually steal from kids."

With their faces covered and wearing dark-colored hoodies in the video, police said the two men used a fire extinguisher to smash the glass door of a computer lab and ransack the place. The principal discovered the burglary on Monday morning around 8 a.m. and called police.

The suspects didn't take your basic computers. They stole 25 Apple iMacs, worth $1,440 each, for a total loss of $36,000.

"Those are expensive computers and they must have invested a lot of money in that, so that's bad news for the school and for the whole community actually," Hall said.

"It's a travesty because the schools have limited budgets now, so that just puts them further back for the kids, especially starting off for the beginning of the year," Audrey Kennedy, of Bloomfield, said.

As she was playing soccer with friends at the Weaver track, Hartford public schools graduate Samantha Golding said the burglary is like a kick in the gut.

"I don't think anybody should steal from students because we work really hard. I mean, some of us work really had to get somewhere, you know," Golding said.

Anyone with any information into the burglary is asked to call Hartford Police.
