U.S. Rep. John Larson, who represents CT's 1st District, is closer to becoming chairman of the House Democratic Caucus.
The door opened for Larson when U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen, of Maryland, decided to remain chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The position would make Larson the 4th ranking Democrat in the House.
He would succeed Illinois Congressman Rahm Emanuel, who will serve as the Presidential Chief of Staff in the Obama Administration.
