Woman Causes Crash While Taking Man Who Overdosed to Hospital: Officials

A woman hit a CT Transit bus in Hartford while racing to a hospital to get medical help for a passenger who had overdosed, according to fire officials.

Fire officials responded to Tower Avenue at Hampton Street in Hartford after receiving reports around 10:45 a.m. that a vehicle rolled over and they found a pickup on its side with two people trapped inside as well as a sport utility vehicle and a CT Transit bus.

Officials said the woman behind the wheel of the pickup was driving erratically to get medical help and tried to drive around the bus at the intersection but hit the vehicle and rolled over. Then the pickup rolled up against the SUV.

Officials removed the passenger from the pickup and gave him Narcan. Then he was transported to Saint Francis Hospital.

The driver of the pickup refused medical assistance and the drivers of the SUV and CT Transit bus were not hurt, officials said.

No one else was on the bus, officials said.
