Groton Man Arrested on Drug, Gun Charges

The Regional Community Task Force and Groton police have arrested a man on drug and gun charges after executing a search warrant Friday.

Anthony Smith, 33, of Groton, faces multiple charges including possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell, criminal possession of a firearm and risk of injury to a minor.

Groton police said officers executed a search warrant at Smith’s home located at 1213 Gold Star Highway in Groton. According to police, the task force discovered fentanyl and crack cocaine packaged for sale, two handguns, and other items for packaging and the sale of drugs.

The firearms and drugs were found in an area that could have been accessed by a 5-year-old child and an infant who live in the home.

Groton police encourage anyone with information about illegal drug sales in the region to contact local law enforcement, The Regional Community Enforcement Task Force, or the Statewide Narcotics Task Force.
