Arrest in Newington Motel Murder

The man had been shot several times, police said.

A 44-year-old man was shot and killed in a Newington motel on Monday night and police have charged a Glastonbury woman with murder.

Officers were responding to a shooting in the Carrier Motor Lodge at 2660 Berlin Turnpike at 10:13 p.m. and found Edward Landry suffering from several gunshot wounds in a room.

Landry was transported to a Hartford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police said he had been living at the motel.

Alanna Carey, 35, of Glastonbury, is being detained on a $1 million bond.

The Associated Press reports that Carey was Landry's girlfriend.

A woman who lives near the murder scene said police had surrounded the room a night or two ago.

Police ask anyone with information to call Detective DeSimone of the Newington Police Department at (860) 666-8445.
