Man Stole Thousands of Dollars in Jewelry From Family Members: Cops

A 21-year-old man is accused of stealing $21,000 worth of jewelry from one family member in North Haven, and more jewelry from another, police said.

Police received a report in October 2013 from a resident of Roberta Road who reported that more than $21,000 worth of jewelry was missing from her bedroom.

Police investigated and identified a family member, Joseph Tursi, 25, as a suspect in this case.

As officers interviewed other family members in town, they determined Tursi had also taken jewelry from another home, police said.

Police obtained two arrest warrants charging Tursi with second-degree larceny and third-degree larceny.

He was taken into custody on Feb. 13 and is scheduled to be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Feb. 27.
