Driver Charged in Fatal Motorcycle Crash

The driver of the car in a crash that killed a motorcyclist Sunday morning  is facing several charges including manslaughter and negligent homicide.

North Branford police took Martin Ginsburg, 22, of 16 Shepherds Trail, Madison, into custody at the scene of the crash and arrested him.

Motorcyclist Ralph Crescenzi, 78, died after colliding with Ginsburg's car on Foxon Road/Route 80 in North Branford at 10:15 a.m. on May 11.

Foxon Road was closed for hours at Totoket Road while authorities investigated.

Crescenzi was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital, police said. No one else was injured in the crash.

Police charged Ginsburg with manslaughter with a motor vehicle, negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Ginsburg posted a $100,000 bond and was released. He is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on May 20.

The South Central Regional Accident Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
