The Mayor of New Britain was the victim of a home break-in Friday.
Mayor Timothy O'Brien came home from work Friday to bring his daughter to daycare, when his wife told him she had heard the sound of breaking glass in the house, according to Phil Sherwood, O'Brien's Communications Director.
The mayor and his wife discovered a broken window and saw a stranger on their property on South High Street. The couple called police.
"Mayor O'Brien wants to assure residents and business owners that he deliberately purchased a home in downtown New Britain because it's a safe neighborhood to do business and raise a family," Sherwood said.
Police are investigating the incident.
