A horse who was wandering is safely back home on Sunday after a North Haven police officer found her and rescued her.

Police said a resident reported a loose horse roaming on Middletown Avenue early Sunday morning.

Officer Petrillo was able to gain the horse's trust and got a leash from a nearby neighbor to rescue her, authorities added.

The horse was safely returned to her ranch.

It is unclear how the horse escaped.
