Police Officer Struck By Vehicle in Orange Released from Hospital

A police officer who was struck by a vehicle while responding to a car fire in Orange on Thursday night has been released from the hospital.

Police said K9 Officer Chris Brown, a 10-year veteran with the department, responded to Marsh Hill Road at 10:06 p.m. to help the fire department at an incident that was reported as a possible car fire on Marsh Hill Road, near the Outback Steakhouse.

The vehicle was in the center lane on the southbound side of Marsh Hill Road and Brown stopped behind it. As he approached the driver’s side of the disabled vehicle, a 2013 Nissan Rogue struck him, police said.

Brown was transported to Yale Hospital to be treated for lower body injuries and has been released. No information was available on the extent of his injuries, but police said he is resting at home.

The driver who hit Brown remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, which State Police are conducting, police said.
