Registered Sex Offender Faces New Charges

A registered sex offender from Norwich is facing new charges this time for contact with a 13-year-old girl in California.

Jeffrey Boushee was arrested in March by the Norwich Probation Department after a search of his Taftville home revealed a computer and evidence of child pornography. Probation officers said his computer was loaded with instant messages to underage girls in several states.  A forensic investigation of the computer taken from his Fifth Street home also found maps believed to show where the girls lived.  He was also maintaining MySpace and Facebook pages.

Terms of his probation bar him from possession of any type of pornography, contact with minors, possession of a computer or access to the Internet.

Police in Thousand Oaks, California say they were tipped off when a girl told her parents.  That's when an officer assumed the teen's identity and continued to collect more evidence.  Charges in California are still pending.

Boushee has a history of apparent violations on the terms of his probation.  His arrest record dates back to 2000 when he was convicted of risk of injury to a minor in connection with contact with a 9-year-old girl.  He violated probation in 2002 for having contact with a 5-year-old and again in 2003.
