Sacred Heart Football Player Accused of Drug Trafficking

Police said they found 700 pills in his car.

A Sacred Heart University football player has been charged with narcotics trafficking.

Police stopped Brett Swider's car on the Merritt Parkway on Tuesday and  found more than 700 pills worth $23,000 hidden under the dashboard, the Connecticut Post reports.

Police investigated the 20-year-old junior running back for two months before investigators obtained a search-and seizure warrant. They believe he was selling oxycodone to people in the Bridgeport area.

Swider is charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and failure to keep narcotics in their original containers. He posted a $25,000 bond.

The Associated Press left a message with a spokesman for Sacred Heart University on Wednesday morning.

Swider is from Boca Raton, Florida.
