Special Master Submits Redistricting Plan

The plan is similar to one requested by Democrats.

Connecticut's congressional district lines would be virtually unchanged under a plan that has been submitted to the state Supreme Court by a special master.

The plan submitted Friday is similar to one requested by Democrats. It does not include major changes sought by Republicans, which would have included the relocation of New Britain and Danbury from the 5th District into the 1st District.

Nancy DiNardo, the chairman of the state Democratic Party, said she believes the map is fair.

Jerry Labriola, the Republican Party's state chair, criticized the plan as a "perpetuation of gerrymandering."

Special Master Nathaniel Persily was appointed last month after the legislative committee charged with redrawing the congressional boundaries failed to reach a bipartisan deal. The court has until Feb. 15 to approve a plan.
