Two From Conn. in Mass. Plane Crash

A pilot and a passenger from Connecticut escaped serious injuries on Tuesday as their plane, a 1946 Piper aircraft,  crashed just short of the runway at Great Barrington Airport in Massachusetts.

The plane might have lost power as the pilot was trying to make an emergency landing when it came up short, clipping a few trees and landed in a backyard, Massachusetts state police said.

The pilot, a 55 year old from Canaan, Connecticut and the passenger, a 38 year old from Plainville, were treated for minor injuries at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington.

No names were released as of Wednesday morning.

Massachusetts State Police and the Massachusetts Aeronautics Division of the Department of Transportation are investigating the crash.
