Accountant for Vernon Water Department Stole Nearly $3,000 in Customer Payments: Cops

An accountant for the Vernon Water Pollution Control Department is accused of stealing nearly $3,000 in sewer payments in May and June.

Rosanna L. Reynolds, 37, of Mansfield, was arrested Monday and charged with one count of first-degree larceny.

Reynolds was hired in July 2014 as an accountant for the town of Vernon Water Pollution Control Department, according to police. Her current employment status is unclear.

Police began investigating July 6 after money was reported missing from the town water department.

The investigation revealed that Reynolds stole at least $2,992 in cash payments on customers' sewer bills in May and June of this year, according to police. Auditors with the town finance department are still working to determine the full amount.

Reynolds was released on on $10,000 bond and is due in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 1.

It’s not clear if she has an attorney.
