Wanted: Purse Snatcher

Police say she ran over 75-year-old victim's hand

Right next door to New Britain Police headquarters on Sunday morning, a 75-year-old woman fell victim to a purse snatcher.

Police said they want the public's help finding the suspect, Heather Alarcon, also known as Heather Cahill.

"She has ties to several communities, including New Britain, Bristol, Middletown, East Hampton, pretty much the Central Connecticut area," said Capt. James Wardwell.

Alarcon allegedly lured the victim close to her car by asking for directions.

As she literally ripped off the victim's purse, the victim fell to the ground, police said, and Alarcon allegedly ran over her hand.

The victim was treated at the hospital and released.

"She's doing OK, shaken up, but recovering," said Wardwell.

He warns people not to approach Alarcon directly but to call 911 if she is sighted.  He has another warning for senior citizens:  be careful who you talk to and maintain some distance.
