Police: Stamford Woman's 11-Story Fall Was Suicide

A security guard said it sounded like she fell by accident.

Police in Stamford said a 42-year-old woman who fell from her condominium's 11th-floor balcony committed suicide.
Lt. Diedrich Hohn told The Advocate of Stamford on Thursday

that an autopsy by the chief state's medical examiner determined the manner of death. The woman's name was not disclosed.

Officers and paramedics were called to the building after 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A witness said the woman was conscious and responding to people talking to her immediately after she fell. She died several hours later at Stamford Hospital.

Police said she lived alone.

A building security guard said people tried to help the woman and covered her with clothing to keep her warm until the ambulance arrived.
