State police and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection relocated a black bear after receiving several reports that the animal was in the Franklin Street area on Thursday.
Police found the 200-pound bear up a tree in the yard of a home just after 8 p.m.
Troopers set up a perimeter until DEEP could tranquilize the bear.
Environmental officials relocated the bear. No injuries or property damage was reported and police said the bear does not present a public safety risk.
There have been 2,035 black bear reports in Connecticut between June 3, 2011 and June 1, 2012, according to a report from the state DEEP.
There has been only one report in Killingly.
The most reports are from Farmington, where there have been 181.
