A New Haven man who was babysitting an 8-year-old girl in Bridgeport has been arrested on charges he raped her dozens of times.
Bridgeport police said they don't know exactly how many times Elier Garcia allegedly raped the girl because she said it occurred nearly every day since January, according to court documents.
Garcia, 24, was charged with 28 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a minor and 28 counts of risk of injury to a minor. He was held in lieu of $200,000 bond.
The arrest warrant affidavit says the girl told police Garcia threatened to whip her and kill her if she told anyone about the alleged assaults.
