Santa Answers Girl's Selfless Christmas Wish

9-year-old Piper Killen asked Santa for a lot, but none of it was for her.

It's not something you would expect from a 9-year-old, but when Piper Killen made her annual Christmas list for Santa, she didn't ask for gifts for herself.

“I looked downstairs in the basement and I found that we had tons of toys that we still can play with, so I don't need anything new. Shoes would be fine,” said Killen.

One hundred pairs of shoes, 200 books and lots of canned food are what she wanted instead. She wanted to give them to those who need them. About a week before Christmas, there was a delivery from Santa.

“He had a bag full of ten pairs of shoes, 20 books and like 50 or 60 cans of food to deliver and we gave those to Master’s Manna,” said Killen.

Santa said he'd take care of the rest. On Christmas morning, there were gifts under the tree. But the biggest surprise was found out on the front porch.

“I ran outside and we opened a box up and it was filled with these shoes,” said Killen.

One hundred pairs to be exact. With them was a note that named Piper Santa's trusty helper.

“I thought I was going to get a little bit of shoes to deliver, but not like 100 pairs to deliver and give everyone, so I was very surprised,” said Killen.

She's already donated some of them to the Wallingford Emergency Center and is trying to figure out where else to send all these shoes.

“It makes me feel good inside, like I've done something right,” said Killen.

Santa must think so, because he made sure Piper had something under the tree.

“I got toys because he said I should still be able to get some toys anyways,” she said.
