Cruise Widow to Marry Again

Her first husband was never found after going overboard

Jennifer Hagel Smith, 29, lost her newlywed husband four years ago when he went overboard during their honeymoon cruise after a night of heavy drinking. Now wedding bells are in her future, as her in-laws still battle her over the nearly $1.1 million settlement from Royal Caribbean.

She is planning to wed financial analyst Jeff Agne, 29, in the fall, Hagel Smith’s dad, John Hagel, said.

"We couldn't be happier," John Hagel said Monday. "We're just thrilled she's been able to move on with her life and start a new life with Jeff. We couldn't be prouder for both of them."

Hagel Smith was married to George Smith, of Greenwich, who disappeared in the seas somewhere between Greece and Turkey.

His body has never been found and no one has been charged in his disappearance.

The cruise line said Hagel Smith was found passed out on a floor far from their cabin.

When she and her new love registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond, she left the Smith part of her name out, according to the registry posted online.

Hagel Smith and Agne plan to marry in October in Vermont, the New York Post reports. No word on the honeymoon location.
