The tables have turned for a Massachusetts police detective accused of sending harassing text messages to his ex-girlfriend.

Connecticut State police say Holyoke officer Paul Barkyoumb, 39, send offensive and threatening texts to Michelle Cruz, Connecticut's victim advocate.

Her attorney, Christopher Morano, says he has evidence showing the messages were from Barkyoumb. But Barkyoumb’s attorney, William Paetzold, says that simply can’t be. He insists his client is innocent and he can prove it in court. Barkyoumb is on administrative leave from his job and has passed a lie detector test.

Barkyoumb was charged Thursday with misdemeanor harassment. He was released on a promise to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Feb. 16.
