Eversource Responds to Montville Due to Gas Issue

Crews from Eversource crews have been in the area of Montville Manor in Montville, going door to door after a low-pressure issue on the natural gas delivery system that serves that part of town.

An intermediate natural gas distribution pipeline in the Oakdale/Montville area lost pressure to an area that serves approximately 650 customers around 5 a.m.

Police said Eversource would be checking that the pilot lights are all lit for every customer and to monitor the residence.

Police initially said that no one was at the home and the home was locked when crews arrived, a locksmith and a police officer would be called to the residence, then they would enter the home, check pilot lights, monitor the home and secure the home, police said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, police said no evacuations were necessary and no unoccupied homes would be entered.

As of 9:20 a.m., the area is safe and there have been no outages, according to Eversource. Officials from Montville said pressure rates on the gas distribution system continue to normalize and as of 11 a.m., were at 62 pounds.
