Woman, dog dead after fire in Bristol

A woman and a dog have died after a fire on Pequabuck Street in Bristol on Thursday morning, according to the deputy fire chief.

Video captured by a neighbor showed heavy fire coming from the front of the home.

Firefighters arrived at the scene around 9:15 a.m., Deputy Fire Chief David Butkus said. They were able to extinguish the flames in about 20 minutes, he said.

Butkus said no one else was found in the home and a brother said that she lived alone.

Officials said the fire was centered around the kitchen and living areas. The cause is under investigation.

Bristol Mayor Jeff Caggiano said the fire was in a "brand new neighborhood" and he thinks the house was less than two years old.
