Several Gunshots Fired in New London Friday Morning

Police said one bullet went through the window of a house.

Several gunshots were fired in New London early Friday morning and one bullet went through the screen of an open window at a house, according to police, who are investigating.

Police responded to Ashcraft Road and Cape Ann Court at 1:58 a.m. after receiving several 911 calls about multiple gunshots in the area and found several shell casings and bullet fragments in the road, police said.

The bullet that went through the open window at the one house went through the screen and struck a closet, officials said. The resident who was home at the time was not hurt.

Police said they were able to stop a vehicle that matched the description of one seen driving away from the scene that was involved in the incident and cited the driver for motor vehicle violations. Authorities have seized the vehicle.

Authorities said they have conducted drug investigations at one house in the area in the past, but have not said whether the shooting is connected to drug activity.

Anyone with information is asked to call the New London Police Department's Detective Bureau at (860)447-1481.
