Louis Deserio was just trying to save money when he came up with the idea to rent space next to his shop Deserio's Hair Cutting in Branford, and charge by the hour.
Deserio calls the space "The Hour Place" and told the New Haven Register he believes the option allows people who can't afford a monthly rent to get the space they need, when they need it.
The space was once his first barbershop, until he moved to his current location.
“If you can’t afford an office, or if you’re an entrepreneur trying to start a business, you can rent it (Hour Place) when you need it,” Deserio told the Register.
Several businesses are cutting costs by having virtual offices, which offers an address, a mail slot and renting office space by the hour, according to the Small Biz Consultant, a small business magazine.
The space is available from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week and Deserio charges anywhere from $16 to $20 an hour depending on the time slot.
