J.D. Cooper's in Putnam to Close

After nearly three decades of serving the residents of Putnam, JD Cooper's Fine Foods & Spirits will be closing its doors next month.

The restaurant opened 28 years ago and has been a mainstay of the local community ever since.

David Landry, the owner, did not have a comment as to why the establishment is closing, but spoke to WINY Radio earlier this week and said it’s time to close.

“I have a special thanks for all my customers' support over those twenty-eight years,” he told WINY Radio.

Ronald Coderre, of Putnam, said he and his wife have been going to the restaurant for dinner every Sunday night.

“What are we going to do now?" he asked.

J.D. Cooper’s is just a favorite dining spot, but also hosts several fundraising events for veterans and charitable organizations.

The restaurant was packed when his organization held an event for veterans.

"Thanks to J.D. Cooper’s, my veterans organization, which I’m the commander (of), made over $6,000 last night," Coderre said.

He also said his Rotary Club meeting was held there last Tuesday.

"There wasn't a dry eye in the house when we were saying goodbye to Dave and his staffing," Coderre said.

JD Cooper's plans to remain open through the rest of the month and will close their doors early December.
