Jury selection was expected to begin in the murder trial of James Carter II Monday.
Carter, 31, is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Tiana Notice, to death in Plainville in 2009. She was killed hours after she pleaded with police to help her by enforcing a restraining order keeping Carter from contacting her.
In February, Carter turned down a deal for a 45-year prison sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to murder.
Testimony in the trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 11, according to the Hartford Courant.
