Man Charged in Attempted Robbery in Wallingford

Wallingford police have arrested a man suspected in an attempted robbery at the Food Land gas station and convenience as well as approaching two women and implying he had a gun.

Police said Christopher Marmol, 44, of Wallingford, pulled a knife on the clerk at the store at 250 South Colony Road and demanded money, but the clerk refused and Marmol left the store without anything.

Moments after the attempted robbery, police received the report that a man approached two females behind 80 Center St., implied he had a weapon by putting his hand in his waistband and told the females to get into their car, police said.

They walked away and into a nearby building, where they called police. Police said the description of the man in both incidents was similar and police identified Marmol as a suspect in both cases, then they identified him as a suspect.

Police took Marmol into custody around 5 p.m. on Wednesday and charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery in the first degree and breach of peace.

He was held on a $25,000 bond.
