A 26-year-old Milford woman sustained serious injuries when she was hit by a car on Foxon Boulevard in New Haven around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, but her condition has improved.
Police said a 37-year-old New Haven man struck Meghan Perry as she was crossing Foxon Boulevard.
The impact threw Perry into the air and an off-duty firefighter who witnessed the crash rushed to help her.
An ambulance then rushed Perry to the hospital.
She was originally listed in critical condition, but her condition has been upgraded to serious, but stable and she is expected to recover.
Police said on Thursday that the person who struck Perry did not have a license or insurance, the car was unregistered car and the license plate was misused. Charges are pending.
