A North Windham man is accused of attacking a person with a machete on Wednesday night and the victim is in critical condition, according to state police.
State Troopers from Troop K-Colchester responded to James Drive in North Windham around 10:30 p.m. and found the victim, who had machete wounds on his left arm and chest, according to state police.
Police said 52-year-old Doran Shumway, a resident of the address troopers responded to, admitted to hitting the victim with a machete after they got into a confrontation.
Lifestar flew the victim to Hartford Hospital, where he is in critical condition. State police said his injuries are life-threatening.
Shumway was charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and additional charges, according to state police.
Bond was set at $1 million and he is due in court today.
