Police Investigate Walmart Parking Lot Altercation in Groton

Police are investigating after a man and woman got into a physical altercation in a Walmart parking lot Saturday night.

Police said Hatun Biyikli, 23, and Jeanette Braddock, 42, got into a verbal argument before the physical altercation took place.

Braddock approached Biyikli outside the store and punched her in the face, according to police. Biyikli then pulled out a small knife.

Police said two bystanders, a man and elderly woman, attempted to break up the altercation. As a result, the man received puncture wounds and lacerations to the hand and wrist area and the elderly woman received serious lacerations to the arm and shoulder area.

Both the man and elderly woman who attempted to break up the altercation were seen at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and were later released, according to police.

Police said Braddock was treated on-scene with knife wounds that were not serious. Biyikli was also treated on-scene for minor facial injuries after being struck by Braddock.

The two appeared to have not known each other before the incident, police said.

A juvenile was present at the altercation but was unharmed, according to police.

Biyikli faces charges including two counts of second degree assault, second degree assault of an elderly person and breach of peace. Braddock faces charges including third degree assault, threatening and breach of peace, according to police.

Biyikli was released on a $10,000 bond and Braddock was released on a $5,000 bond. Both are expected to appear in court on June 14.
