Police Look for Man Who Stole Car From Westport Home

Police are looking for a man who stole a car at a Westport home early Sunday morning.

The incident happened at approximately 3:45 a.m. in the Compo Beach area.

The victim watched someone steal his car out of his window.

While police were driving to the home, they recognized the car that was reported stolen and deployed stop sticks. The stop sticks flattened one of the tires on Riverside Avenue and the man fled on foot, according to police.

The man is believed to have been traveling with a second car, according to police.

The stolen car was quickly returned to its owner with damage only to the back wheel because of the stop sticks.

The victim told police a second car parked in his driveway had also been entered but nothing was taken.

"We ask that you please let this incident serve as a reminder that vehicle break-ins and stolen motor vehicles continue to occur in ours and neighboring communities at great frequency, especially in the overnight hours," Lieutenant Anthony Prezioso said.

No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (203) 341-6080.
