Dogs Help Track Down Home Invasion Suspect

Police dogs tracked down a19-year-old Wallingford teen who is accused in an East Hampton home invasion on Tuesday morning.

Police say Christopher Gagne, 19, went to a female acquaintance’s house at 9:30 a.m. and used a knife and duct tape to attempt to restrain her. She was able to coerce him not to attack her further, police said.

Gagne fled from the victim’s home in his vehicle and crashed in Portland, police said.

The woman reported the home invasion at about 9:45 a.m. A State Police K-9 united and East Hampton Police tracked Gagne from the crash scene and found him less than mile away.

Gagne has been charged with second-degree threatening, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree kidnapping, first-degree unlawful restraint, home invasion, and first-degree burglary.

He is being held on $250,000 and will be arraignment at Connecticut Superior Court in Middlesex County on Wednesday, May 26.
