Next time you go on a spending spree, make sure you know where the money is coming from. Mackenzie Halpin, 19, of Woodstock has been charged with helping two alleged robbers spend cash they stole from two brothers, state police said.
Halpin went on a shopping spree after she hooked up with the two suspected robbers, Kyle Hurlburt, 19, of Pomfret and Zachary Martin, 20, of Thompson, police said.
Halpin met the men after they allegedly stole $3,000 at gunpoint during a robbery in January. Both men face charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny.
Maybe the guilt got to her, because Halpin turned herself in on Tuesday. She faces charges of sixth-degree larceny and receiving stolen property.
Halpin has been released on bond pending her appearance April 21 in Danielson Superior Court.
