A Florida bobcat found its way to the top of an electrical pole on Thursday.

Video shows the large, spotted cat perched on top of the utility pole, surveying the scene below. The Florida Department of Transportation caught the first images of the feline along Alligator Alley in Collier County, close to Mile Marker 78.

The animal was originally thought to be an endangered Florida panther, but was later identified as a bobcat. Utility workers with a bucket truck later arrived and tried to nudge the feline down from the tall structure, video shows.

The Naples Daily News reports the animal later scurried down and ran into the brush.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, bobcats are typically twice the size of a domestic cat and frequent swamps, hammock land and deep forest areas. Seeing bobcats during daylight hours is not unusual, the FWC says, as the creatures typically sleep for only two to three hours at a time.
