Suspended Husky Withdraws from School

Erik Kuraczea

One of two UConn football players who was suspended from the team for a violation of university and athletic department policies has withdrawn from school.

Offensive guard Erik Kuraczea, a sophomore from Ansonia, withdrew for personal reasons and hopes to enroll somewhere else in January, Coach Randy Edsall told reporters Tuesday.

Kuraczea and reserve quarterback Cody Endres were suspended from the team in mid-August for an unspecified violation of school policy and reinstated in mid-September.

Kuraczea started at left guard during the Huskies' last two games, a win over Vanderbilt and a loss to Rutgers.  He also started five games last year. Senior Mathieu Olivier is expected to take his place.

Kuraczea was projected to serve as a backup to Olivier at left guard.
