Animal protection groups hope to track down the person who shot a cat with nearly two dozen BBs in a suburban Syracuse yard.
The Animal Alliance of Greater Syracuse says in a Facebook post that the calico cat, named Callie, was found bleeding about a week ago by her owner, Amy Jenkins of Liverpool.
Jenkins filed reports with the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office and the Central New York SPCA. The Syracuse Post-Standard reports that the cat is healing, but veterinary costs are expected to total about $2,400.
In addition to the BBs in her body, Callie suffered a broken leg which required surgery.
The Animal Alliance is offering a $500 reward to anyone who provides tips leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter.
