7/7: Bridgeport, Bertolucci and Bands

The Independence Day weekend is done.  So, if you're backyard barbecued out, why not take your taste buds on a trip across the pond to Spain.  And the best part is, you only have to go to Bridgeport.

Head to Bridgeport's North End.  First, consider checking out Bernardo Bertolucci's masterpiece "The Conformist" at the north branch of the Bridgeport public library on Madison Avenue.  The showing is at 5:30 p.m.  It's free and open to the public.

After that, head to one of the North End's newest new restaurants "La Taberna."  The restaurant features Tapas and other Spanish favorites as well as Italian cuisine.

If you're looking to rock, head north to Hartford's Comcast Theater (formerly Meadows Music Theater) for Def Leppard and Poison with Cheap Trick.  The concert's at 8:00 p.m. Tickets range from $35 to $131.

And if you're looking to boost your brain power, try your hand at trivia night.  It's at Murphy and Scarletti's on Farmington Ave. in Avon.

Have a great night!
