A school bus driver saved young soccer players' lives after a tree branch fell on a bus carrying students in Sharon and came through the windshield.
Nick Frost, 39, of Torrington, was bringing soccer players from the Forman School in Litchfield to a soccer game when a tree snapped in front of him on Route 4.
"The next thing I knew, it came through the windshield," Frost said. "I put my hand up and was literally holding the windshield up because it came out in one piece and I had to hold it up and still be able to steer."
Frost, a driver with All Star Transportation in Torrington, cut the steering wheel and was able to maneuver the bus away from the falling tree, officials said.
"It happened so fast, I really don't know what I was thinking, to tell you the truth," Frost said. "I just wanted to make sure everyone was OK and get the bus safely off the road."
Frost brought the bus to a safe stop despite the tree shattering the windshield and sending shards of glass flying past him.
One student, the team's two coaches and Frost were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

"At first, I kind of refused to go because I thought I was OK, but then we thought it was best that I go and make sure. They did pull a couple of small pieces of glass out of my face, so it's a good thing that I did go," Frost said.
While Frost said he is just grateful no one was seriously hurt, first responders credit Frost's quick thinking to avoiding what could have been a more serious accident.
"The driver did a fantastic job, I think. He should be commended for it," Sharon Fire Chief Scott Schreiber said. "It could have been a lot worse than it really was."
