2 CSP Cruisers Involved in Crash on Route 15N in North Haven

Multiple people were taken to the hospital after a chain-reaction crash involving two state police cruisers on Route 15 northbound in North Haven Sunday.

Police said the crash happened near exit 62, near the North Haven/Hamden line.

State police said the crash happened when a vehicle stopped abruptly in the left lane. Two cruisers stopped behind it with their lights on, but before troopers could act further, a chain-reaction crash started.

According to police, a Subaru traveling behind the cruisers in the left lane rear-ended a Ford Ranger in front of it as the vehicles tried to stop. The Subaru was then hit by a Honda Civic. The force of that crash pushed the Subaru into one of the state police cruisers before the vehicle spun out into the second cruiser. Finally a Honda Pilot crashed into the Honda Civic before all the vehicles came to a rest.

Minor injuries were reported and the occupants of the vehicles were transported to the hospital for evaluation.

The highway was shut down for about two and a half hours for cleanup.
