Dad Had Gun at Elementary School Graduation

Police said the father forgot to bring it home after leaving work.

Police were called to an elementary school graduation in New Haven on Monday morning when a parent saw another parent with a gun.

Police said the father was carrying the gun at work and forgot to stop at home and drop it off before heading to the Lincoln-Bassett School for the graduation ceremony.

He was cooperative, has a valid pistol permit, and was confused about whether to bring the gun into the building because it is illegal to leave in the car, police said.

No charges have been filed and the incident is being referred to the state police firearms division.
