Litchfield County Dispatcher Helps Deliver Baby

Litchfield County is celebrating one of its emergency dispatchers for instructing a couple on how to deliver a baby on Friday.

Veteran dispatcher, Matthew Ludwig, who has been with the department for 15 years, "jumped into action" when he got the 911 call at 5:45 a.m., according to Litchfield County Dispatch.

Ludwig was able to provide mommy and daddy with detailed instructions to assist delivering their baby boy. Over the phone, Ludwig was able to tell the parents how to support the baby's head and neck during delivery, tie the umbilical cord and tend to the after birth.

"Matthew's 15 years of experience shown through brightly as he handled the call with compassion and professionalism," Litchfield County Dispatch said in a release.

The family welcomed a healthy son, thanks to the help of Dispatcher Matthew Ludwig.
