State and local authorities in Lyme are investigating a jet skiing accident on the Connecticut River that claimed the life of a 34-year-old Wolcott man on Sunday evening.

Austin Mordowanec was going at a high rate of speed on his jet ski when he crashed into a dock at Hamburg Cove around 6 p.m., according to officials from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection/

Mordowanec was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this point, investigators do not know if the crash was weather-related. DEEP said they are investigating the cause.
