Fire Damages Duplex in Glastonbury

Resident saw sparks coming from the air conditioner.

One man is out of his duplex at 357 Naubuc Avenue in Glastonbury after an early-morning fire on Monday.

The fire started around 4 a.m.

Several crews from the Glastonbury Fire Department quickly contained the blaze and kept it from spreading.

The man living inside said he and a friend were inside when the fire broke out and they managed to get out safely.

“I just heard the alarm go off and ran downstairs and saw the carpet was on fire and then I could see sparks and flames coming out of the air conditioner,” Matt Plucinski said.

The first and second floors of the residence were damaged and his possessions were damaged, but Plucinski said he’s grateful that neither he nor his friend were hurt.

The fire marshal will investigate the cause.
