A fire has engulfed the old Remington Arms Factory in Bridgeport.

Fire crews are on the scene at Barnum Ave. fighting a fire that broke out around 11:30 a.m. Mutual aid has been called in to help from Shelton and surrounding towns.

There have been multiple fires at this factory in the past, including one in August 2010. A Bridgeport councilman believed that fire was started by vandals trying to burn copper off the ceilings of the abandoned building.

Fire and police crews are warning bystanders to stay back due to the heavy smoke.
