A fire broke out at a Hamden farm Sunday afternoon, burning acres of land and a number of storage units and tractor trailer containers, fire officials said.

According to the Hamden fire chief, a brush fire started around 4 p.m. at 50 Doolittle Lane and spread as a result of high winds. The fire consumed several acres of farmland and a number of storage containers.

The Wallingford and Bethany fire departments sent out tankers to help fight the blaze, which seemed to be contained after about an hour. The fire did not reach a nearby farm house.

No one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
