Hartford Man Charged in 2010 Cold-Case Killing

The man accused of shooting and killing Jeanna Flores was convicted by a Hartford jury on Thursday.

A Hartford man was found guilty of killing one person and injuring two more in an Oct. 2010 shooting outside the Franklin Bar & Grille in Hartford, according to the state Department of Criminal Justice.

Twenty-three-year-old Luis Sanchez was convicted of one count of murder and two counts of first-degree assault in Hartford Superior Court on Thursday.

Sanchez is accused of shooting at a group of people outside 451 Franklin Avenue during the early hours of Oct. 7, 2010. Jeanna Flores, 27, died from a gunshot wound to the head. Two men she was with were also shot and were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Two other Hartford residents were arrested in connection with the incident: Gina Colon was convicted of second-degree hindering prosecution and tampering with a witness, and Santos Gonzales was convicted of second-degree hindering prosecution.

Flores was the mother of two girls, who were 4 and 7 years old when she died.

Sanchez will be sentenced Jan. 8, 2014.
